A Thoughtful Renovation Within the Historic Mountain Lake Community

ocated within the historic Mountain Lake community in Central Florida, this project represents the third collaboration between the homeowners and CMSA Architects. The renovation reimagines a modest one-story residence, transforming a dated structure into a refined home defined by thoughtful detailing and renewed architectural character.
The design focused on strengthening both interior and exterior cohesion while introducing richer materials and more deliberate spatial organization. Updates throughout the home established a stronger architectural language while maintaining the relaxed scale appropriate to Mountain Lake.
An unexpected design influence emerged from the kitchen featured in the film It’s Complicated, whose warm, layered composition helped inspire the reworking of the home’s central living spaces. The result is a renovation that blends cinematic inspiration with careful architectural execution, creating a residence that feels both timeless and deeply personal.
