The clients have lived on this secluded, waterfront property for 35 years and sought a fresh take on their home. Originally stunning, their former house had faded, falling below base elevation and looking dated. With the breathtaking views of Sarasota Bay, verdant mangrove islands, and the Gulf of Mexico, they envisioned a light-filled, modern sanctuary. They wanted simple lines, an open floor plan, and a neutral color palette, with durable materials like glass, stucco, wood, and stone to weather the Florida climate. Their goals included a comfortable, playful space—far from the sterility of some modern homes—and ample room for their large family, with expansive indoor and outdoor dining and gathering areas and a private owner’s suite for peaceful retreats. Garages needed to be concealed, and the home was raised above the floodplain.
